This picture was for my portrait photography / perfect lighting assignment. There were a lot of people in there trying to get the perfect picture of her nicely posed and such but that wasn't what I was trying to get. Sure I wanted perfect lighting but I wanted to capture some of her true emotion or a facial expression/body pose that showed what she was really feeling. This picture was taken after quite a while in the studio when she was getting really frustrated with sitting there with people trying to get the perfect picture and the heat from all the lights was getting to her. She had just had her head bowed to shield her face from the lights and when she looked back up i snapped this picture. It was really lucky that she looked right into the camera as she looked up because it caught her right before she arranged her face for the other photos. There is a darkness to this photo that I really like, her eyes feel like they're looking right into you and the way her hair is framing her face defines her sharp features making everything more angular. The way her shoulders are kind of slumped downwards also shows how tired she is and the fact shes not really smiling and looks kind of annoyed with her smirk portrays that she isn't as happy as she may seem in other pictures. I like the fact that the wall is kind of dirty too, it adds to the mood of the darkness and that everything isn't as pleasant as it seems. I used the 2:1 ratio with the lighting and a backlight shining onto the wall so that there was no shadow.

I really enjoy this photo because it looks like she's either falling asleep or basking in the sunlight. I took it with the intent of capturing her face in her most vulnerable state without her being asleep. Her body position and facial expression all are leaning/ looking in the same direction, deepening the feeling of yearning for the light. I took the picture from below her to make the light look like its shining from up above mimicking either the sun or the "light of God", however you wish to interpret it. Her facial expression is neither overly happy nor sad, she merely looks content in the position she is in.

I put 2 lights shining in from the side shes looking at, and a backlight to take away her shadow of the wall. I used the soft box to shine on her from near where i was standing to make sure the side of her face and her body weren't in shadow.

This picture was one of the last pictures of the day where it just captures pure unforced emotion. I took this picture while she was laughing at something Justin had said and she didn't even know I was taking the picture. I picked this picture because it completes the small range of Daiana's emotions that I have uploaded onto here. I chose to use this picture because it just shows unparalleled joy and the fact that her body is leaning back shows that she is moving from laughing so hard. I wanted to show the various emotions one person can have in a single day of shooting or how such simple things can make them change their entire face, body language and mood of the photo. The lighting that I used was just one lamp and the soft box right infront of her, to make just her illuminated and nothing else.

This first picture was taken with the intent to capture the colours of Daiana's sweatshirt on a day that was very grey and boring in colour. Also, these days we are so wrapped up in growing up and acting like grown ups that I wanted to capture the playfulness of being a child and reminisce the old days. 

This picture was my first ever multiple exposure picture. My intent was to capture Daiana in different places around the devils pit to show the movement of her in her day-to-day passings in the devils pit.
